SPRINGERS Leisure Centre has received a top award for management excellence by Parks and Leisure Australia.
The City of Greater Dandenong Council and Springers centre management Belgravia Leisure received the award on 20 August in the category of best managed leisure centre in Victoria and Tasmania.
The award considers innovation, initiative, multipurpose utilisation, fiscal responsibility, sustainability, customer satisfaction, accessibility, and benefit to stakeholders.
City of Greater Dandenong mayor Youhorn Chea said he was rapt with the award. “The partnership between the council and Belgravia has focused on a strong commitment to the community and this is shown in the range of initiatives implemented at Springers,” Cr Chea said.
The council and Belgravia have focused on identifying sport and leisure programs for people with special needs; promoting activities at schools; adopting an environmental management plan; building relationships with various cultural groups; undertaking cultural awareness training; and employing a multicultural youth liaison officer.
“This is a shining example of the flexibility of Springers and its broad appeal,” Cr Chea said.
