FIRE fighters battled thick black smoke to extinguish a blaze at a Dandenong South factory on Wednesday 20 June.
Dandenong, Hallam and Frankston Country Fire Authority crews rushed to Hammond Road at 9.15pm where a turbo-charged diesel engine business was fuming with black smoke.
Fire fighters said two cars in the workshop area had caught on fire, sparking the blaze.
They donned breathing apparatus and cut through roller doors to enter the workshop and extinguish the fire.
Dandenong CFA photographer Keith Pakenham said the cutting process was lengthy.
“Entry to the building was time consuming as the company had been broken into many times and they bolted all doors down securely,” he said.
Fire fighters then used special fans to clear the smoke.
