GREATER Dandenong council has announced the winners of its short story competition, My Story – Tall Tales and True.
City mayor Youhorn Chea released a statement this week praising all entrants on the quality of their submissions.
“The depth of literary talent in Greater Dandenong is impressive,” Cr Chea said.
“The act of telling one’s story through words is both rewarding and therapeutic.
“I encourage people to put pen to paper whenever possible, whether it is a diary entry, school assignment or short story.
“Creative writing is a wonderful outlet for our thoughts and emotions and I hope more people discover the enormous satisfaction that comes with the completion of a written piece.”
The winners were: Junior category – 1st Simran Verma, $200 cash, 2nd Carol Tong, $100 book voucher, 3rd Mostafa Khatab, $100 book voucher; Teenage category – 1st Adele Cassandra Rose, $300 cash, 2nd Bertram Almeida, $150 book voucher, 3rd Emilie Cangy, $150 book voucher; Adult category – 1st Bill Reed,$700 cash, 2nd Barbara Glavota, $350 cash, 3rd Jim Dow, $250 cash.
