GREATER Dandenong council paid tribute to one of the area’s most esteemed Aboriginal elders this week.
Aunty Patsy Harrison, 71, died suddenly on Monday, 20 November, and at last Monday’s council meeting, outgoing mayor Peter Brown paid tribute to the elder who had worked tirelessly with her community. “She was instrumental in the setting up of the community network and the establishment of the Dandenong and District Aborigines Cooperative,” he said.
“She was renowned as a talented basket weaver and has passed on those traditional skills to many people.”
