DANDENONG detectives have charged a 22-year-old man with handling stolen goods following the theft of Essendon Football Club champion James Hird’s 250th game jumper.
The prize jumper Hird had gifted to club stalwart Colin Hooper was originally stolen from a framing store in Kew on 1 September.
Police visiting a Springvale property in relation to another crime discovered the jumper lying on the ground, dropped by a man who fled the premises.
Police said a 22-year-old man was arrested in a car in Cranbourne in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The man is expected to appear in the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court this week.
