A 51-YEAR-OLD Springvale resident was last week convicted and fined $500 plus costs after abusing a Dandenong parking officer.
The man pleaded guilty to three offences, including parking for a period longer than indicated, using insulting words in a public place and offensive behaviour in a public place.
The incident took place in Springvale’s busy Buckingham Avenue shopping precinct about midday on 5 December last year.
City of Greater Dandenong development services director Mal Baker said the behaviour was unacceptable.
“In these circumstances people need to understand that it is their apparent failure to comply with road rules that leads to infringement notices being issued,” he said.
“The council has very clear and fair processes in place to enable people to request a review if they believe a notice is not justified.
“That’s the appropriate way to resolve these matters.”
