THE Necropolis in Springvale attracted highprofile guests to mark two special occasions within the last week.
Last Thursday Chief Police Commissioner Christine Nixon attended the End of Day Reflection service for National Police Remembrance Day.
And on Tuesday, the $6.6 million Luciano Rossetti Mausoleum was officially opened by Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne, the Most Reverend Denis J. Hart.
Necropolis chief executive Russ Allison said the building of the new mausoleum was timely as there were only about 230 casket spaces still available in the Rocco Surace Mausoleum, which opened in 1997.
The new facility will provide an additional 1398 casket spaces.
