SOUTHERN Football League Division Three clubs had better watch out – the Dandenong Demons are packing some serious punch this season.
The Demons have announced super middleweight boxer Sam ‘The King’ Soliman as the club’s number one ticket holder for season 2007.
Soliman, who was knocked out and defeated by WBA super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine last week, made several appearances at the Demons’ home games last season.
Club president Stuart McGregor said Soliman was present at a number of Dandenong’s matches at Greaves Reserve last year and even offered some pre-match words of motivation.
The club website also gave the thumbs up to Soliman’s involvement.
“It’s a great thrill for the club to have such a high-profile personality involved at the club,” the website said.
“The boys really responded well last year when he gave a pre-match speech at a couple games.”
According to one club source, the Dandenong Demons have recruited well in the off-season and are looking forward to a successful year.
