Housing, transport top wish list

AFFORDABLE housing and better public transport are vital to Central Dandenong’s redevelopment, according to residents who participated in a VicUrban survey.
The results of community consultation to help define Central Dandenong’s $92.8 million redevelopment will be unveiled to residents this weekend amid festivities.
The City of Greater Dandenong Council and VicUrban have organised the Community Information Day at Palm Plaza, outside the Dandenong Plaza, on Sunday, 9 April between 10am and 2pm.
The results of a community consultation process for the Revitalising Central Dandenong project will be revealed, but to provide further incentive for residents to attend the unveiling, a host of activities, including face painting, live music, stilt walking, free coffee and a sausage sizzle, will be on offer.
Major Projects Minister John Lenders said the community identified six important areas of attention.
They are more social outlets, improved public transport, housing to remain affordable, more trees and other greenery, more livelihood in Central Dandenong and the continued celebration of the city’s many cultures.
