GREATER Dandenong children were as pleased as punch when they kicked off their school holidays with a long-running puppet show this week.
Dandenong and Springvale Libraries played hosts to the puppet show Punch and Judy as children from across the city packed the buildings to catch a glimpse of the entertainment.
The puppet show dates back centuries, as early as the 1600s, and was originally intended as a dark comedy showing the fragility of a man and his family struggling to survive.
But in its modern day incarnation, the puppet show is a slapstick, laugh-a-minute romp, and it left children with smiles on their faces on Tuesday.
The libraries will continue their holiday activities with Dandenong offering activities on 29 June at 11am, and Springvale on 27 June at 11am.
That’s the way to do it!
