TEAMAN Titch set tongues wagging at Sandown Park last Thursday when it recorded the fastest heat win in the heats of the Group 3 DDC Launching Pad.
Beginning quickly from box three, the David Burnett-trained greyhound was never troubled, carving out impressive sectionals before stopping the clock in 29.7 seconds.
In just his fifth race start, Teaman Titch ($7.60) sliced an impressive 10 lengths off his previous best time around the Lightwood Road circuit and proved too good for hot favourite Mogambo ($1.80) to win by six-and-a-half lengths.
Teaman Titch will need to be at the top of his game in the final, however, after drawing the dreaded box six.
Victorian Trainer of the Year Robert Britton prepares two runners in Thursday’s final, with Warnsborough ($6.30) winning his heat in 29.93, and Karen Reltub ($3.50) her heat in 30.03.
In what shapes as big week for the kennel, Britton will also prepare Tasman Queen and Coulta Lil in the Group 1 Australian Cup final, and Gunnadoo Magic in the Group 1 Gleeson and Tonta Stayers Trophy at the Meadows on Saturday night.
Britton’s brother Jeff prepares Miami Vice, a winner in 30.09, while his partner Angela Langton started a memorable night for the family when Lynlea’s King ($4.30) won the first heat.
In the other heats, Make The Magic ($10.50) led all the way to win in 29.79, the exciting Velocette ($2.90 favourite) survived a first-turn skirmish to win in 29.93, and Queen Of Poverty ($15.50) won the final heat in 30.11. The $29,000 Group 3 DDC Launching Pad final will be run at 9.36pm at Sandown Park tonight (Thursday).
