Libraries choc-a-bloc with fun

THE wheels may have come off the mobile library, but Greater Dandenong Council says book lovers can still find their literary fix at the Springvale and Dandenong libraries.
Amid a storm of controversy surrounding the closure of its mobile library, the City of Greater Dandenong this week released a media statement outlining the opening hours of its two static libraries over the Easter holidays.
The council says that the libraries will be open on Easter Saturday – 22 March – for the first time.
Holiday programs will run from 20 March to 7 April, with special shows set down for Tuesday 25 March, Thursday 27 March, Tuesday 1 April and Thursday 3 April, including Dave’s bush music show, a circus in a suitcase, dancing and comedy routines.
Joining the city’s libraries is free and people can borrow up to 20 items including DVDs, CDs, books and magazines.
Becoming a library member involves bringing identification with a current address.
For further information on City of Greater Dandenong libraries or to reserve items go to www.greaterdandenong.com.
The libraries are closed on Good Friday, 21 March, but open 10am to 5pm on Easter Saturday, noon to 5pm on Easter Sunday and 2pm to 5pm on Easter Monday.
