A SERIES of retarding basins to prevent flooding will be required if Dandenong South’s industrial area is extended.
The City of Greater Dandenong has been planning to extend the manufacturing region, with State Government approval, since September last year.
Greater Dandenong councillors received an update on the extension’s progress this week.
The report contains information on the extensive public comment period that took place in October and November last year.
A report before council this week stated that because of Dandenong South’s low-lying geography, it could otherwise flood and would need a series of retarding basins to help cope with heavy rainfall. The report sources Melbourne Water as having identified the need for retarding basins, and further states that plans for the retarding basins and surrounding drainage are almost complete.
The council will place its reworked C67 Amendment on public exhibit later this year.
