THERE was a plague of scorpions at Casey Fields on Monday –Casey Scorpions, that is.
The first official training session to be held at the new venue – the biggest infrastructure project in the Casey area – took place on Monday night and football players and officials were excited by the prospect of being the first to use the facility.
The Victorian Football League club, formerly known as Springvale Scorpions, is the first to transfer to Casey Fields and will share the venue with Casey-Cardinia league cotenants Cranbourne next year.
Scorpions general manager Brian Woodman said the move to Casey Fields was a positive step for the club and would create a pathway to the elite level for talented young players in the Casey-Cardinia League.
He was also enthusiastic about the facilities at Casey Fields.
The grounds are built and almost ready for use, while the pavilion and other buildings are on schedule to be ready for the first official game, scheduled for late April.
Training sessions will be held at |the venue on Monday and Wednesday nights throughout the preseason with the club’s home game fixtures to be announced soon.
