Chinese mayoral visit to pay off

THE MAYOR of a Chinese city hopes a visit last week to Greater Dandenong will open the doors to economic deals between the two cities.
Xuzhou City mayor Li Fu Quan, whose city shares a Sister City relationship with Greater Dandenong, said last week he was excited by potential for economic growth in Greater Dandenong above all else.
On his first visit to the city to celebrate Greater Dandenong and Xuzhou’s 10-year relationship, Mr Fu Quan said he hoped the visit would “deepen friendship and strengthen exchanges”.
“But besides cultural and educational cooperation, we will pay more attention to economic cooperation,” Mr Fu Quan said.
South East Networks manager Sandra George said the City of Greater Dandenong and Xuzhou would engage in a dual-learning process to better understand each other’s potential opportunities.
She said that with China’s booming economic profile, the moment was more opportune for pursuing economic cooperation be-tween Xuzhou and Greater Dandenong.
