Dedicated citizens set for awards

NOMINATIONS are being sought for the Australia Day 2006 Citizen of the Year awards.
Categories include senior citizen, citizen, junior citizen, nonresident and event of the year.
Greater Dandenong Australia Day Committee chairperson Alan Collier said the awards recognised local residents who dedicated their lives to the community.
“It’s a great opportunity for the citizens to say thank you to hard working volunteers who do so much for our community all the time,” he said.
Nomination forms are available from City of Greater Dandenong customer service centres at Springvale, Parkmore and Dandenong, or by phoning 9795 2196.
“We want as many people nominated as possible,” Mr Collier said.
“We would also like to hear from any groups that want to be involved on Australia Day, whether it’s with a community stall, entering the street parade or supplying entertainment.
“We are very keen to hear from entertainment groups or individuals.”
Nomination details can be sent to PO Box 1250, Dandenong, 3175.
