A MAN received a serious laceration to his face after two men assaulted him in a road rage incident on the Monash Freeway near Dandenong last week.
Acting Detective Sergeant Dean Hedge from Greater Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit said at 3pm on Friday 24 January a 33-year-old Endeavour Hills man driving a four-wheel-drive was involved in a lane-change altercation with a black Volkswagen Golf.
Acting Det Sgt Hedge said the altercation happened near the Police Road on-ramp heading outbound. He said the two cars at some point stopped traffic as they made their way to the side of the freeway to pull over, where two men from the Golf assaulted the Endeavour Hills man.
“A Caucasian male aged in his mid 20s got out of the driver’s side door and approached the victim in the car and started punching him,” Acting Det Sgt Hedge said.
“A second male with long brownish hair, aged in his mid 20s, has also got out and then got into the other side of the victim’s car, where he also assaulted him while in the vehicle.”
The 33-year-old received a ‘nasty’ laceration to his head, Acting Det Sgt Hedge said.
The man then took himself to Dandenong Hospital for treatment before driving to Dandenong Police Station to report the incident.
The men in the Volkswagen Golf were last seen exiting the freeway on the Heatherton Road off-ramp.
