Funds to smooth schools’ cracks

PRIMARY and secondary schools from Greater Dandenong will share in $263,000 of State Government funding, Lyndhurst MP Tim Holding said this week.
The funding is part of a $16 million package announced last month by Education Minister John Lenders as part of the Bracks Government’s 2007-08 budget.
The money will go towards school maintenance including toilet blocks, roof and heating system repairs and other general items.
Coomoora Primary School will receive the largest chunk of the funding, with $150,000 for a major upgrade to toilet facilities.
“These projects will make a big difference to the schools in Lyndhurst,” Mr Holding said.
“The Bracks Government is undertaking a capital works program in schools of unprecedented scope, but ongoing maintenance to ensure the quality of existing facilities is equally as important.”
Other schools to share in the funding include Heatherhill Primary School, Southvale Primary School, Chandler Primary School, Springvale South Primary School, Keysborough Park Primary School, Chandler Secondary College, Heatherhill Secondary College and Coomoora Secondary College.
