Last chance to enter quest

By Shaun Inguanzo
DANDENONG’S most famous talent competition – Urban Quest – is back for 2008 with organisers this week calling for final entries to the singing and dancing event.
Urban Quest heats will run on Thursday 3 April, with the grand final being held on Saturday 5 April at the Palm Plaza.
Mission Australia and the Dandenong Plaza are again working together to make the event a reality and this year have produced a stunning line up of prizes to ensure the competition continues its pedigree of attracting the best local acts.
Up for grabs for the competition winner this year is a music video shoot valued at $20,000, donated by Red M Studios.
Vocal lessons, studio recordings, and gift cards for the Plaza and Myer Dandenong valued at $300 each are also awaiting winners and runners up in the competition’s different categories.
Although applications closed on 14 March, Mission Australia spokeswoman Charmaine Waduge said Urban Quest would consider late applications.
The competition is expected to take place at Palm Plaza, just outside the shopping mall, to accommodate for a large audience.
Urban Quest began in 2002 and has helped launch the musical careers of many young people from Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs.
Participants are aged between 12 and 25 years and will compete in the categories of Vocal, Dance and Street.
