Sweet taste of success

BOSSES at Dandenong South’s Krispy Kreme’s headquarters have launched their roll-out across the state.
Construction began yesterday on the state’s first Krispy Kreme doughnut chain outlet in Narre Warren.
Fountain Gate will become a doughnut hub when the world famous store, complete with 24/7 drive-thru, opens to the public in June.
Krispy Kreme’s operational headquarters are located at South Link, Dandenong South, where plans for the Fountain Gate store were created.
Hype for the new chain hit the south east on Wednesday as hundreds of Krispy Kreme fans flocked to the Narre Warren North Road site to be the first in the state to experience the mouth-watering treats.
Guests were tempted by a never ending supply of free doughnuts, hot Krispy Kreme chocolate dipping stand and special ‘hot light’, a feature found in all stores indicating when the doughnuts are hot off the production line.
Krispy Kreme arrived in Australia from the US in 2003 and has since opened 15 stores in Sydney.
The new Fountain Gate store will be able to produce more than 270 dozen doughnuts per hour, offering a variety of 15 different flavours to choose from.
Krispy Kreme marketing manager Mark Gilbert said the new store would attract doughnut lovers from across the south east and create more than 100 jobs.
“This will be great for the area and make Fountain Gate a real draw card.
“We are looking forward to working with the local community.
“It is an exciting time for us and we can’t wait to open our doors to the public,” he said.
Krispy Kreme also makes more than a dozen other varieties of yeast-raised and cake doughnuts, real fruit pies, cinnamon buns and snack food.
