A CHILD died and four other people were seriously injured after a car and a truck collided in Lynbrook yesterday morning.
Police believe a Ford Festiva was travelling through the intersection of Lynbrook Boulevard and South Gippsland Highway when it and a semi-trailer travelling north on the highway collided at 10.42am.
A seven-year-old child died at the scene.
Two boys, aged 14 and 10, were airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital.
A 40-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to The Alfred hospital and a 12-year-old girl was conveyed to the Royal Children’s Hospital.
The male truck driver was taken by ambulance to Dandenong Hospital for observation and later released.
The South Gippsland Highway was blocked to north-ound traffic.
Members from the Major Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
