Marketing tips

DANDENONG retailers can become shrewd marketing individuals thanks to a special seminar to be held by the Dandenong Retail Traders’ Association (DRTA) in May.
Marketing a business is a major tool in building success, and to assist retailers the DRTA will dedicate its May general meeting to improving its members’ marketing techniques.
The meeting will be held on 1 May in the President’s Room at the Grand At Dandenong, 139-155, Thomas Street, Dandenong, at 6pm.
DRTA chairman Roy Aspinall said the group had the assistance of the Office of Small Business in providing the seminar.
“We are fortunate that the Office of Small Business is offering retailers in central Dandenong this wonderful opportunity to boost their knowledge to assist in growing their business,” he said.
“All retailers should make a special effort to attend the general meeting and seminar as I am sure it will prove beneficial to them.
“All retailers are welcome at the general meeting, be they members or not, but we do hope that all retailers will eventually join.”
Mr Aspinall said aside from valuable advice, the meetings were also a strong networking platform.
“Attendance at the general meetings is a wonderful opportunity to network with fellow central Dandenong retailers,” he said.
“Tea and coffee is supplied and as well as our speaker there are normally Victoria Police members plus Greater Dandenong council and VicUrban representatives in attendance to provide information and for those present to discuss issues.”
General meetings typically commence at 6pm and conclude by 7.30pm, allowing retailers to attend after they close their business while avoiding a late evening.
“Membership of the DRTA is a wonderful way to have a say in what happens in central Dandenong,” Mr Aspinall added.
“You need never again ask ‘What is happening in Dandenong?’ as most of those questions can be answered by attending the meetings or simply by being a member of the association.
“Remember that whether or not you live in Dandenong your living is here.”
