I WOULD like to take this opportunity of congratulating the Star on the occasion of its first birthday for the positive contribution it has made to communication within the City of Greater Dandenong and the support it has provided to Dandenong’s commercial sector.
Accurate, reliable and objective coverage of council activity is essential for residents and ratepayers to gain a knowledge of all aspects of council work.
As mayor, I have been impressed by the effort Star’s reporter, Shaun Inguanzo, has made in attending many council and commercial activities and providing valuable coverage and feedback through his editorial and pictorial coverage. Council is reliant on the role of the printed media in particular to provide a means of effective communication to all Greater Dandenong residents, ratepayers and commercial and non-profit organisations.
Independent and objective reporting importantly adds to the community knowledge base. Greater Dandenong is well served by the news media, and on behalf of council I thank the Star for its valuable contribution and wish the Star every success in the future.
