Appeal for purse cash theft victim

POLICE are appealing for a theft victim to come forward to after cash was stolen from a woman’s purse at Waverley Gardens Shopping Centre.
Police said the theft happened on 27 March between 12.50pm and 1pm at the Vegas Room poker machine facility.
Police believe the female victim left her purse next to a gaming machine while at the counter.
They said an unknown woman was seen removing cash before leaving the purse in the female toilets.
The victim, upon returning, reported her missing purse to gaming staff, who later found it and reported the matter to police.
Police said the victim had already left the venue in a taxi in a distressed state and no contact details were obtained.
A 61-year-old Mulgrave woman has been charged with theft and will appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Police would like to hear from the elderly woman, who should contact Constable Diana Quick at the Mount Waverley police station on 9888 3755.
