Clock ticking on Happy Hour

THE great Australian tradition of Happy Hour will be debated at a Springvale drug action community forum next week.
Chairperson Eddie Micallef said the forum would highlight the costs associated with alcohol use.
“We want to explore strategies to achieve culture change around harmful alcohol use and inappropriate alcohol supply and products,” he said.
“An excellent group of speakers will question how happy we are about our Aussie cultural insititution the happy hour.”
Key speaker will be Geoff Munro, director of Community Alcohol Action Network, part of the Australian Drug Foundation.
Supporting contributions will come from compliance manager for William Angliss TAFE Steven BradieMiles, Crown’s general manager of community affairs Bill Horman, Liquor Licensing director Sue Maclellan and manager of Youth Substance Abuse Service Dandenong Ipsita Roy.
Mr Micallef said there would be an opportunity to question speakers during the panel session and discuss the issues with members of the three local drug action committees, local drug and alcohol treatment and support agencies, Victoria Police and City of Greater Dandenong officers.
