DANDENONG Panthers young gun James Pattinson earned man of the match honours in Australia’s win over Nepal at the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Malaysia on Tuesday.
The 17-year-old speedster took 3/25 to guide the Aussies to a 96-run victory in their second preliminary match of the tournament.
Having recently returned from an ankle injury that sidelined him for the latter part of last year, ‘Junior’ was back to destructive best in claiming three top-order scalps – including two in consecutive deliveries.
Meanwhile, Panthers team-mate Kumar Sarna was rotated out of the side for Wednesday’s game after playing in Australia’s first-up win over Namibia on Sunday.
Sarna was trapped in front for just one run against the Africans, but will be expected to make an impact with the bat in Australia’s first real test against Sri Lanka this Sunday.
