Man loses car after 150km/h booking

DANDENONG traffic police impounded a car clocked at more than 150km/h on the Monash Freeway in Narre Warren on Sunday.
Police said the 28-year-old Officer man was driving in a 100km/h zone at the time. Dandenong Traffic Management Unit police in a marked Ford XR6 followed the man in his Commodore outbound on the Monash Freeway in Narre Warren just before 10pm.
Police said he overtook several vehicles at more than 150km/h before stopping nearly three kilometres further down the freeway.
The man, who was the sole occupant in the Commodore, completed a preliminary breath test and was transported to Narre Warren police station for a formal interview.
The man has been released pending further investigation.
His vehicle was impounded for 48 hours and he will now appear in court at a later date for various traffic offences including exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol, reckless conduct endangering persons, speeding dangerously and exceeding the speed limit. Police have appealed to any motorist who witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
