NOBLE Park Bowls Club had a very disappointing round nine, with the Ladies B1 team being the only winners.
The men’s top side went down to Berwick by ten shots, Michael Hopkins’s team of Anthony Anderson, Kerry Hutton and Alf Bell being the only winning rink. Fortunately they still remain leaders of their section,
The seconds also lost to Narre Warren by 27 shots, with good wins to Peter Harris’s and Frank Geisler’s teams. Although they lost, they still managed to hang onto second position in their section.
The thirds went down in a thriller, holding a one-shot lead with one end to go but unfortunately could not hang and on went down to Parkdale by two shots. Ross Smith’s team of Don Cameron, John Berryman and Brian Dunn were up by 11 shots.
The fourths and the fifths struggled all day, losing by 19 and 59 shots respectively.
The Ladies A1 top side with two rinks up and two rinks down lost to Berwick by 18 shots, Judy Dennis’s team having a good win by 18 shots.
The only bright light for the week was the B1s defeating Dandenong Club by 21 shots with Val Pentland’s and Norma Freeman’s teams registering solid wins. They are still hanging on to top spot in their section.
The B2s were outclassed by a better team losing by 56 shots to Eastwood Golf.
