WORKSAFE Victoria will hold a series of public meetings about workplace safety aimed at employers and workers.
Greater Dandenong employers and workers are urged to attend the Rowville seminars on 27 May at 1pm and 4pm, and 28 May at 10am and 1pm.
The meetings will be held at Kingston Links, in Corporate Avenue, Rowville.
Specialists from WorkSafe’s workplace health and safety, premium and return-to-work teams are running the briefings that will cover a range of topics.
WorkSafe CEO Greg Tweedly said the annual roadshow had been a valuable way to raise awareness of workplace safety and workers compensation issues in an informal environment.
“As a modern regulator, it’s important to ensure the community has a clear understanding of their rights and obligations, WorkSafe’s objectives and how it operates,” he said.
“Taking the time to get information direct from WorkSafe staff, meeting face to face and asking questions about particular concerns is an investment in your business or your working life.”
This year’s topics include:
• Making your workplace safer: Check your understanding of safety basics, find out where to get information on health and safety and learn about new WorkSafe projects.
• Innovative return to work initiatives: Learn about new ways you can meet your obligations to help injured workers get back to work as soon as possible.
• Your WorkSafe premium for 2008/09: Find out how your WorkSafe Injury Insurance premium will be assessed in 2008/09, and the important link between better safety, effective return to work practices and the amount you pay.
To book go to www.seminar.worksafe.vic.gov.au or call the WorkSafe Advisory Service on 9641 1444 or 1800 136 089 (toll free).
A range of publications will also be available at the briefings.
