GREATER Dandenong council has adopted its 2008-09 budget after it received no objections or requests to amend the draft document.
Councillors voted unanimously in favour of the document which will see residents hit with a more friendly rate rise of 3.67 per cent.
An officer’s report to councillors said the council received no objections or requests to amend the budget document – a contrast to previous years where the council has held public hearings for submitters. The low rate rise comes after a redistribution of rates, which means the council will receive more of its rates from industrial and commercial properties that have benefited from a price boom over the past two years.
