NEW BARBECUES sparked a visit from Major Projects Minister John Lenders last week to officially open a recreational park in Dandenong’s Metro Village 3175 residential estate.
The Dandenong Creek Park will be the hub of outdoor recreation for Metro Village 3175 residents, complete with several new barbecues, seating and a picnic area.
The park has recently been completed, and both Mr Lenders and Greater Dandenong mayor Peter Brown were on-hand to formally open it for public use.
Cr Brown said he was impressed with the facility.
“It has a specially paved area with a very contemporary windsail or shelter-type design, with tables and top-of-the-range, stainless steel barbecues,” he said.
“It overlooks Dandenong Creek, which is being improved, and will be an absolutely delightful area to serve, principally, those in the estate.”
Metro Village 3175 has swallowed $25 million of the State Government’s $92.8 million package to revitalise central Dandenong, and Mr Lenders said it had been attracting an overwhelming amount of demand.
“About 500 people attended the pre-registered interest evening and about 51 $1000 deposits were received for 54 lots in Stage 1,” he said.
Mr Lenders said 1000 homes would be Metro Village’s capacity, with the first residents expected to move into their homes late next year.
