DANDENONG Panthers took home the six points after a convincing victory over Northcote on the second day of their Premier League match at Shepley Oval on Saturday.
Northcote resumed at 0/7 and never looked like reaching the Panthers’ mammoth total of 332, quickly reverting to the defensive style of play the Dandenong bowlers expected.
With a win needed to keep their season on track, the Dandenong bowlers pounded the Northcote top-order and three successive ducks reduced their opposition to 5/21 early in the day.
Paul Boraston (4/23) and Darren Pattinson (2/32) did the early damage and were later supported by Matthew Chasemore (2/28) who, along with Nathan Allen (2/49), removed the tail swiftly.
Robbie Bartlett (69) and Nathan Dowell (41) did their best to steady the Northcote ship, combining to put on 109 for the fifth wicket, but the Panthers had all the answers, eventually knocking Northcote over for a measly 164.
The Dandenong side travels to St Kilda this Saturday to begin a two-day game.
Dandenong supporters are reminded that the Panthers will play Casey South-Melbourne in a Twenty/20 match at Arch Brown Reserve, Buchanan Road, Berwick on Tuesday, 13 December.
The free event starts at 5pm and will be headlined by some former international stars, including Damien Fleming and Graham Yallop.
