NEW hi-tech classrooms, a gymnasium and several general purpose classrooms will be built with State Government assistance at Wellington Secondary College in Mulgrave.
Mulgrave MP Daniel Andrews announced his party’s pledge ahead of the State Election this weekend.
If re-elected into government, he said Labor would contribute funds to Wellington’s new facilities, which are currently planned as stage one of a massive redevelopment.
Mr Andrews did not announce the sum of money that Labor would commit to the building, but he said the commitment followed funding for Wellington early this year, including a $25,000 maintenance grant.
The school, near Police Road, has a large catchment of students from Noble Park and Springvale.
“Wellington is one of the many high-quality secondary schools in our local community and new facilities will help the dedicated teaching staff provide even better education for local students,” Mr Andrews said.
“I want to congratulate the school council and principal Mary-Jo Putrino for all their hard work and thank Education Minister Lynne Kosky for making the redevelopment possible.”
