
NOBLE Park Cricket Club’s first XI has a big run chase this week after Croydon finished at 8/270 off its 80 overs in their Victorian Sub District Cricket Association match on Saturday.
Rod Douthie was the best of the bowlers with 3/34, Damien Fleming 2/48 and Paul McDonald 2/79.
The second XI is in a better position, dismissing Croydon for 124.
Kim Fitzpatrick 3/34, Sean Schubert 2/24 and David Kennedy 2/35 shared the bowling honours.
The game’s on for the third XI after the side’s 250-plus totals came to a sudden halt, being dismissed for 105 by Croydon. Only Michael Todd (39) and Andrew Love (24) showed any resistance.
An inspired spell by Andrew Parker, who at one stage had three wickets for no runs, has got the side in a position to win with the visitors 7/83 at stumps. Parker ended the day with 3/15 off eight overs.
The fourths have a run chase this week after Croydon reached 7/226.
Ash Ganser 3/71, David Parker 2/44 and Steve Limbrick 1/12 were the wicket takers.
