School celebrates itsfive-decade milestone

PAST and present students united to celebrate the milestone 50th birthday of Lyndale Primary School on Friday.
A day filled with fun activities, gifts and guest speakers welcomed in the half-century for one of Dandenong’s oldest primary schools.
Principal Ruth Knight praised the involvement by the school community, and said she was overwhelmed by the day’s success.
“We had some past pupils, and staff and parents come on the day,” she said.
“Some of those who had attended Lyndale primary in the past went to speak to classes about what school was like when they came to school during those times.”
Ms Knight said a morning assembly was the perfect platform to welcome the guests, followed by a gift ceremony.
“Each grade in the school made a surprise present to be given to the school, so we unwrapped those,” she said.
“They were beautifully presented in boxes, each containing some just absolutely fabulous presents.”
