JAN King and her Chisholm TAFE colleagues have fired up for a ceramics exhibition showcasing their best work.
The Out of the Mud exhibition is running until this Sunday from 10am to 5pm every day at Richmond’s Gallery 314, at 314 Church Street.
Ms King and fellow graduates have been refining their ceramics techniques as part of the diploma of art course in ceramics at Dandenong’s Chisholm TAFE.
Ms King, 55, said ceramics was a pursuit that she treated as a hobby but hoped would earn her “the odd dollar” on the side.
The Emerald resident said ceramics was largely working with clay on either a spinning wheel, or using hands to sculpt the desired shape.
She said the art was easier said than done, and despite the hands-on approach, it was as creative as working with paint.
“It is because you need to draw your work to begin with,” she said.
“It is very satisfying.”
