A DANDENONG electrical and whitegoods retailer has raised $11,000 for an outdoor playground at the Dandenong Hospital.
The Good Guys store in Dandenong has donated 20 cents from every transaction since 2006 to the Southern Health Dandenong Hospital Play Education Department.
Good Guys spokesman Allen Garb said giving back to the Dandenong community was central to the way his store did business.
“We aim to improve the vitality of the communities where our employees and customers live and work,” Mr Garb said.
“We know that each community is unique.
“That’s why we have a local giving program. We can identify the specific needs of our community and make a positive impact.”
Dandenong Hospital children’s ward nurse unit manager Janine Maloney praised the Good Guys’ initiative.
“The proposed outdoor playground for the children’s ward will be fantastic for the sick children and their families,” she said.
“It will complement the high-quality care environment at Dandenong.
“The fresh air and sunshine will bring many smiles to many sick children’s faces.”
The Good Guys’ national Cause Program supports more than 105 charitable organisations around the country including hospitals, school mentoring programs, women’s refuges and music therapy programs.
