IT’S lights, camera and action, as the Limelight Theatre Company prepares for the upcoming musical, Into the Woods.
The award-winning musical will be performed at the Cranbourne Community Theatre from 29 August to 6 September, and kicks off with a spectacular gala supper on the opening night.
The play debuted in San Diego at the Old Globe Theatre in 1986, and premiered on Broadway in 1987.
Into the Woods won several Tony Awards, including Best Score, Best Book, and Best Actress in a Musical.
The funny and twisted fractured fairy tale begins when a childless baker and his wife learn they have been cursed by the witch next door.
The couple embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell; swindling and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel.
The lively fantasy soon becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility, and the stories we tell our children.
Director Neil Goodwin, who has had more than 30 years of theatrical experience, has won 10 best director and four best choreographer awards.
The Limelight Theatre Company has presented many multi-award winning productions including Chicago, Stepping Out and West Side Story.
Tickets cost $34.50 for adults and $32.50 for concessions.
