‘Landmark’ realignment

THE CHELTENHAM Road realignment was officially opened last week as a landmark event in central Dandenong’s revitalisation.
The realignment allowed for the development of the new Grenda Corporation building, as reported in the Star last week.
Planning Minister Justin Madden said the realignment was evidence of the revitalisation project swinging into action.
“These projects are vital to kicking off the revitalisation process but are also iconic to Dandenong’s history and its future,” Mr Madden said.
“Grenda buses are to Greater Dandenong what trams are to Melbourne.
“The family business and its fleet of buses are symbolic to the area’s history and identity and the new facility will ensure their continued service and growth.”
Mr Madden said the Revitalising Central Dandenong initiative was the largest urban renewal project since the Melbourne Docklands and would create new city space and places for significant development opportunities.
