Business reception

By Melissa Meehan
MORE than 200 people attended the mayoral business reception on Thursday evening to hear plans for business initiatives and future development in Greater Dandenong.
The informal reception, at the Drum Theatre in Dandenong, gave business people the opportunity to mingle and discuss the plans for the city.
During his speech, mayor John Kelly acknowledged the importance of the business sector within the council’s boundaries.
“Without you, this city would not be the thriving retail, commercial, and industrial hub that it currently is,” Cr Kelly said.
“As a council we are particularly grateful for your valuable contribution to this community and the opportunities you create.”
He then explained major projects earmarked for the year ahead, including the revitalisation of central Dandenong, the redevelopment of the Dandenong Market, the development of the Arkana site, upgrading the Noble Park train station, and finalising of the Springvale Structure Plan.
Chief Executive Officer John Bennie also spoke, highlighting Greater Dandenong’s status as the “Gateway to the South East”.
