PARENTS of children who attend ABC Noble Park West will need to look elsewhere for childcare when the centre ceases operations at the year.
In a list released by receivers McGrathNichol last month, ABC Dandenong North and ABC Dandenong West were the only two centres in the City of Greater Dandenong that were guaranteed to remain open past Christmas.
Five were named on a list titled ‘ABC Learning Centres subject to further operational review.’
Last week, the receivers of the childcare giant announced that ABC Noble Park West will finish operating on 31 December.
Shadow Minister for Women’s Affairs Wendy Lovell said the news has devastated many families and ABC employees, and the Brumby Government should act quickly to prevent further disappointment.
“The announcement has come just days before Christmas, leaving some families little time to organise alternative childcare arrangements for their children in 2009, and childcare workers facing Christmas without a job in the new year,” she said.
“The Minister and the Premier John Brumby must now act to ensure no Victorian family is disadvantaged by the centres closure.”
ABC Noble Park West ABC Learning Centres will join 54 others across Australia that will close at the end of December.
