Lions’ festive spirit

THE Annual Lions Summer Community Festival will be held this weekend at Burden Park, Springvale.
It will be a free event with community stalls, rides and amusements, plus performances by multicultural community groups and musical entertainment by local artists.
“There will be plenty of food and entertainment for everyone,” said Lions Club member and head of the festival committee, Ashley Lewis.
Some of the highlights of the festival will be performances by a Police Band and Pacific Rhythm Dance Group.
A huge fireworks display will be held at 9.30pm on Saturday night.
Sunday is family day with entertainment throughout the day for children. Humphrey Bear will make an appearance, as well as Snake Busters who will give children the opportunity to meet and greet with reptiles.
“The day is run so that the Lions club can put something back into the community,” Mr Lewis said.
All proceeds for the day will go to the needy in the area and to Springvale South Primary School.
It will run on Friday 20 February between 5pm and 11pm, Saturday 21 between 11am and 11pm, and Sunday 22 between 11am and 6pm.
