Waterlions’ big pool of talent

TWENTY-FOUR Haileybury Waterlions qualified for next month’s All-Junior finals at MSAC on Sunday.
Competitors progressed to the finals with top-10 placings at the Metro South All-Junior Eliminations on the weekend.
Ten-year-old Kiera Bates, 11-year-old Ben Hewitt and 13-year-old Kirsten Roode qualified in all four strokes.
Other male qualifiers included George White, Fraser Smith, Casey Bates, Cameron de Kok, Nelson Dong, Noah Pabst, Brandon Roode, William Chan, Lachlan McHenry and Corey Pabst.
Female Waterlions Olivia Davies, Samantha Molloy, Jessie Curtain, Zoe Reed, Kristy Wilkins, Emily Cox, Xenia De Cata, Toni Heslop, Erin Haverkamp, Brittany Yong and Nicole Stainsby also progressed.
The All-Junior finals are at MSAC on 21 and 22 March.
Meanwhile, teenage Haileybury sensation Ally Woodlock finished ninth in the 200m backstroke final at this month’s New South Wales State Open Championships.
She represented the 12-strong Target 2012 Gold Squad at the three-day event at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.
