Stars unite in tribute

STARS from the Australian stage and screen will unite for a special gala evening to celebrate the life of the late Paul Streefkerk.
The concert, aptly named Celebration, will honour Paul’s love of the stage and screen and the contribution he made to arts and culture in the City of Greater Dandenong.
Paul was a champion for the performing arts in Greater Dandenong and played a pivotal role in transforming the Drum Theatre into a state-of-the-art facility.
Since August 2004 he held the role of cultural facilities director with the City of Greater Dandenong. His role encompassed the management of Heritage Hill, Walker Street Gallery, the Drum Theatre and The Castle.
Show business talent from across Australia, along with local performers and Drum Theatre staff, have generously donated their time to perform at the Drum Theatre on Sunday 17 May.
All proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Dandenong and Springvale benevolent societies. Performers include Julie Anthony, Denise Drysdale, David Hobson, Simon Gallaher, Wendy Stapleton, Philip Gould, Paul Norton, La Prima Opera, Chris McKenna, Michelle Fitzmaurice, Donald Cant, Paul Hughes, Alison Rae Jones, Kevin Hocking, John Lidgerwood, Cheryl Darvidis, David Cameron, Paul Cengia, City Of Greater Dandenong Band, Dandenong Theatre Company and the Windmill Theatre Company.
The event will be held on Sunday 17 May at the Drum Theatre, Dandenong Town Hall from 7pm to 9.30pm. Tickets are $39 for adults, $37 for concession and $34 for members. Bookings: 9771 6666.
