HEAVY construction work will begin at the Dandenong Market Redevelopment site next week, when cranes lift structural steel frames into place.
Engineering Services Director Tim Tamlin said in order for the work to be carried out in a safe and timely manner the multi-deck car park would be closed for a period of six weeks.
“The multi-deck car park will be closed from Sunday, 3 May until Monday, 15 June while structural works involving cranes and large machinery are completed,” he said.
“The closure is necessary for public safety reasons and to ensure the project remains on track for completion by April 2010.”
Mr Tamlin said alternative car parking was available in central Dandenong including the triangular car park on Clow Street and the Thomas Street multi-deck car park.
