SmartBus speeds up

BUS travellers taking the SmartBus Route 901 service from Ringwood to Frankston will soon enjoy even faster travel times due to bus priority road works at the intersection of Seaford, Ballarto and Dandenong-Frankston Roads.
Public Transport Minister Lynne Kosky said a $400,000 State Government project would reduce the time bus services were delayed at traffic lights using a new “queue jump” treatment.
“The Route 901 SmartBus is now the second most popular bus route in Melbourne and it’s only been in operation for one year.
“This is no surprise, given that SmartBus users enjoy faster journey times, by giving them priority at traffic lights,” Ms Kosky said.
“The route provides travellers with direct and frequent connections to Ringwood, Dandenong and Frankston train stations, as well as Knox City and Stud Park shopping centres.”
Works are expected to start in late May and expected to be completed by the end of September.
