FIVE local schools will share $11.85 million in federal funding for major infrastructure works.
Isaacs MP Mark Dreyfus announced the funding on Tuesday as part of the Federal Governments Building Education Revolution program.
Making the announcement at St Anthony’s School in Noble Park, Mr Dreyfus said the funding was an opportunity for local schools to take their facilities into the 21st century.
“Every local primary school or P-12 school will be getting a new hall, library, learning centre or classrooms out of this program,” he said.
“At this time of global financial crisis, it is important for the Federal Government to invest in infrastructure that creates jobs and delivers long-term benefits to students and schools.”
The five local primary schools to share the $11.85 million are St Anthony’s School ($3 million for new classrooms and refurbishing existing classrooms), Dandenong South Primary School ($3 million for a new multi-purpose hall), Haileybury College ($3 million for a new library and resource centre), Resurrection School ($2 million for a new library) and Noble Park English Language School ($850,000 for new classrooms).
