Firm delivers the goods

PICKING up the pieces has been made slightly easier for Victorian bush fire victims, with the donation of an LCD television, six televisions, one washer and one fridge by a Dandenong business.
According to the owners of Mr Rental Dandenong Peter and Sharon Thomas, NQX Freight System agreed to collect and deliver the donations free of charge, from stores in North Queensland down to Melbourne.
“We wanted to do whatever we could in the way of donating white goods and other items to help those who have lost everything regain some semblance of their lives,” Mrs Thomas said.
The items arrived at the Salvation Army last month and Mr and Mrs Thomas said they would distribute the items to families most in need.
“We decided to donate a variety of items because the loss of both appliances essential for the convenience of day to day living as well as the small pleasures, such as watching television, can really affect a family’s life,” she said.
According to Mrs Thomas, renting appliances provides a handy solution to those who lost everything in the bushfire, as well as families who are suffering in the current economic crisis.
“Families are able to rent all the appliances they require with minimal cash outlay and without having to worry about repairs and maintenance.”
Mrs Thomas said that renting has become an increasingly attractive option throughout Australia for families looking to maximise their cashflow by not having to purchase big ticket items outright, while ensuring they’re not denying their family’s basic needs.
