CHILDREN will have the opportunity to get creative at the Walker Street Gallery Dandenong over the July school holidays.
A range of stimulating art workshops will be presented at the gallery, between 7 and 9 July, giving children the opportunity to explore a variety of mediums.
The workshops, aimed at children aged six to 12, will allow participants to build an idea and create art that is truly their own through playing with colour, shape and materials while learning to focus and concentrate.
Creative art practitioner, art therapist and teacher Tina Strafford will present the three workshops.
The gallery’s visual arts co-ordinator, Jacqueline Schultze, said this would be the first time these art workshops would be offered here.
“We are very excited about Tina Strafford presenting the classes because she brings a wealth of experience in the visual arts to this project,” Ms Schultze said.
Children can learn a bit about Picasso, through experimenting with colours, shapes and paints, on Tuesday 7 July with the Create Like Picasso workshop.
Playing with terracotta clay will feature on Wednesday 8 July when children will get to make a coil pot and a pinch bowl.
The Mono Printing workshop, which covers design and print on fabric, will be held on Thursday 9 July.
All three workshops will run between 10am and noon.
Cost is $10 a day or $30 for all three sessions.
Bookings are essential because spaces are limited. Call the gallery on 9706 8441 for details or to register.
