LOCAL primary school children had more than eight million reasons to smile this week as round two of funding for the Federal Government’s Building Education Revolution program was announced.
Over $8 million each in government funding was announced for the newly merged Coomoora Primary School and Keysborough Park Primary School, and Chandler Primary School and Maralinga Primary School.
Making the announcement at Chandler Primary School in Keysborough, Federal Isaacs MP Mark Dreyfus said the funding was an opportunity for local schools to bring their facilities into the 21st century.
“Every local primary school or P-12 school will be getting a new hall, library, learning centre or classrooms out of this program,” Mr Dreyfus said.
“It is important for the government to invest in infrastructure that creates jobs and delivers long term benefits to students and schools.”
The newly merged Coomoora Primary School/Keysborough Park Primary School, to be constructed and sited at Coomoora Primary School, will receive $8.25 million for new classrooms.
The newly merged Chandler Primary School/Maralinga Primary School, to be constructed and sited at Chandler Primary School, receives $8.05 million for new classroom and a new multi-purpose hall.
The newly merged Southvale Primary School/Springvale South Primary School, to be constructed and sited at Springvale South Primary School receives $6.78 million for new classrooms.
